Import from DWG and DXF Formats

The quality of imported drawings depends on factors such as complexity and the originating software. We recommend testing this feature before purchasing ProfiCAD.

Methods of Import

The program supports two ways of importing from DWG and DXF formats:

1. Import as Raster Graphics

This method is ideal for complex drawings. The file is converted into a bitmap, and the imported drawing is not editable.

Procedure:

  1. Select Insert - DWG or DXF File. Choose Import of Drawings or Import of Symbols. Use the Open button to load the file. The conversion takes a few moments, and a preview is displayed.
  2. Insert the document into your drawing using the Insert button.

To optimize the image, save it as a PNG file using the Save button. Adjust the image in a graphics editor before reinserting it using Insert - Image.

  3. Resize the imported drawing as needed using the mouse.

2. Import as Vector Graphics

This method is suited for schematic symbols or simple drawings. The file is converted into graphic objects (lines, curves, circles, etc.).

Procedure:

  1. Select Insert - DWG or DXF File. Choose Import of Drawings or Import of Symbols. Use the Open button to load the file. The conversion takes a few moments, and a preview is displayed.
  2. Insert the document into your drawing using the Insert button.

Save the symbol to the library of symbols using the Save button.

  3. Resize the imported drawing as needed using the mouse.
  4. Decompose the imported drawing into individual graphic items by right-clicking and selecting Decompose (explode) from the menu.
